How to compress an image to 1 MB
By Sekora Studios · Updated
Open Compress Image, choose the 1 MB target, and compress. The result never exceeds 1 MB. Many phone photos fit at this size with modest quality loss and no dimension change.
Steps
- Open Compress Image and choose a JPG, PNG or WebP photo.
- Select 1 MB, or type 1024 KB if you prefer a custom field.
- Compress, check the achieved size, and look at the preview.
- Download the file and use that copy in the upload or message.
1 MB is often enough for listings
Property, marketplace and job portals frequently cap a single image at 1 MB or 2 MB. Start at 1 MB. If the site still rejects the file, drop to 500 KB.
Keep the original for print or archive. The compressed copy is for the upload.
