How to convert PDF pages to JPG or PNG

By Sekora Studios · Updated

Open PDF to Image, choose a PDF up to 30 MB and 30 pages, pick JPG or PNG and a render scale, then create the page images. Download a page on its own or save every completed page as a ZIP. The conversion runs in your browser. Text on a page becomes pixels in the download.

Steps

  1. Open PDF to Image and choose a PDF from your device. Encrypted files and files over 30 MB or 30 pages are rejected.
  2. In Settings, choose JPG for smaller files or PNG for lossless pages, then set the render scale. A higher scale produces larger, sharper images and uses more memory.
  3. Create the page images and inspect each preview. Confirm page count, rotation, and whether text or thin lines look sharp enough.
  4. Download a single page, or download a ZIP of every completed page. Keep the original PDF if you still need selectable text.

What render scale to choose

Scale controls how many pixels each PDF page is drawn at. Use a lower scale for on-screen sharing and a higher scale when you will print or crop the page later. A higher scale also produces larger files.

This tool rasterizes each page. It does not extract embedded photos as original files, and it does not keep a text layer. Unusual fonts, very large pages, or complex vector art may look different from a desktop PDF reader.

JPG or PNG

JPG usually makes a smaller file and is enough for photos and full-page screenshots. PNG keeps sharp text and diagrams without extra JPEG artifacts.

If you need every page in one archive, use the ZIP download after the pages finish rendering.

More questions

Can I convert several PDFs at once?

This tool opens one PDF at a time. Convert each file, download its images or ZIP, then open the next PDF.

Does a higher scale match 300 or 600 DPI print?

Scale sets output pixels relative to the page size the renderer uses. It is not a print-shop DPI setting. Check the downloaded width and height if a printer or form asks for a specific pixel size.

Are the images uploaded?

No. The PDF is read and rendered in your browser. Image pixels are not sent to a SafeImageTools server.
